Summary (30/07/2012)
At least 100 martyrs have fallen today, mostly in Damascus, Daraa and Aleppo where the FSA have so far been able to hold off the regime’s attacks in the city while continuing to make gains in the countryside. A regime position in Anadan fell, and captured tanks were used to attack Mennagh Airbase. In Homs, it seems hundreds of families living in the ruins are now almost forgotten, despite still being shelled daily while Deir Ezzor, Syria’s 6th city has now been under bombardment for 40 days. Meanwhile the defections continue, with the most senior Syrian diplomat in London resigning, and a group of 12 officers, including the deputy chief of police in Lattakia, defecting and crossing into Turkey.
