SUMMARY (04/11/2012): While SNC representatives met in Doha for the first day of talks, Assad’s forces killed at least 200 people, mostly in Damascus, Daraa, Idlib and Aleppo. Daraa city was bombed by helicopter, killing up to 23 people, while the Air Force continues to pound the Eastern side of Damascus and southern areas of the capital including Yarmouk Palestinian Camp are under heavy shelling. The city of al-Bab in Aleppo, al-Mayadin in Deir Ezzor, Ma’aret an-Nu’man and Bashiriyah village in Idlib were also all under heavy bombing today. In Damascus city centre another bomb seemed to target the military HQ, while the abduction and murder of the actor Mohammed Rafeh is being blamed on “rebels” (he is accused of being an informer for the regime) and a senior Ba’ath Party official was assassinated in the city of ar-Raqqah.
