Summary (10/10/2012)

At least 173 martyrs have been killed today, mostly in Damascus, where more bodies were found in the suburbs of Daraya, Jisreen and the towns of Deir Asafir and Zabdeen in the countryside. At least 22 people were killed in the bombing of the city of Khan Shaykhun, Idlib. Heavy fighting continued in Homs, Deir Ezzor and Aleppo, where fighting took place inside the Great Mosque (initially built in 8th Century but rebuilt after it was razed by Mongols in 13th Century). Turkey has warned Syria that it will respond more strongly to the daily cross-border shelling, while reports from US talk about a military task force being sent to Jordan to help them deal with the “turmoil” from Syria.
