At least 145 martyrs were killed by Assad’s forces today, half of them in Damascus where Hajar Aswad, Irbin, Harasta, Douma and Assali were all under shelling, well within the hearing of Lakhdar Brahimi as he met Assad today to hear the dictator’s incredible calls for dialogue. Shelling is not the regime’s only tool of killing – finding groups of executed bodies dumped on the streets of the capital is a daily occurence. Aleppo’s war is still going on after more than 10 weeks with the FSA holding most of the ground and Assad the sky, although in Idlib another plane was reportedly shot down today. Finally, it’s nice to hear that the Pope admires the courage of Syrian youth, but it’d be much nicer if we saw the Catholic and other churches in Syria throwing their support behind the revolution clearly and firmly.
