Summary (01/08/2012)

At least 138 martyrs have fallen today, mostly in Damascus and it’s suburbs where there were 2 massacres. In the suburb of Jdaydet Artouz, 58 people were found executed following a raid by Assad’s forces, with more than a hundred more rounded up and taken away and there is a fear that they will be killed as well. The second massacre was in Yalda in Damascus, with more than 27 martyrs including an entire family slaughtered. Fighting continued for a 13th day in Aleppo, where more reinforcements including tanks are being sent. Tonight all communications to Aleppo have been cut. In Homs, Hama, Daraa, Deir Ezzor, Idlib it was the usual horrific story of shelling, fighting, shortages and displacement. July was by far the deadliest month of the uprising so far, with 3,600-4,300 recorded martyrs reported reflecting the serious escalation in violence. See the map for more info.
