At least 100 martyrs have fallen today. Daraa, Damascus, Homs, Hama, Deir Ezzor, Idlib and parts of Lattakia province are all under shelling and living though very difficult conditions, but the whole world is looking at one place now, Aleppo. The FSA has taken over almost half the city and continues to assault regime positions inside the city, while the regime continues to mass thousands of troops and tanks outside the city, harassed by fighters in the countryside. An MP from Aleppo province fled to Turkey, while Syria’s Ambassador to Belorussia and the Baltic States has become the latest diplomatic defection. Meanwhile, it seems the world is doing what it has done for the last 500 days – taking a comfortable seat and preparing to watch the imminent massacre. If you look at the map and think that protests are less than the usual on Fridays, excuse us but the shelling and displacement are taking their toll.
