Summary (16/07/2012)

At least 84 martyrs have fallen today, mainly in Hama, Homs, Damascus, Aleppo and Daraa provinces. Fighting continued in the heart of Damascus for a second day, with Assad’s forces deploying armoured vehicles and closing off parts of the city. Most of the families from Tadamun and Midan have fled to Yarmuk camp to stay in the UNRWA schools and the houses of residents. The area Yarmuk, Yelda, Midan, Naher Ayshah, Qazzaz and Tadamun (covering a large area of south and south-eastern Damascus) is now like a big prison with hundreds of thousands of people besieged and under shelling and sniperfire. Heavy fighting also erupted in Syria’s 4th city, Hama and fighting has continued in Homs, Daraa, Deir Ezzor, Idlib and in much of Aleppo province. See the map for more info.
